Thoughts

Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear. Thank you for creating this special tribute page in memory of Glenn. Your kindness in choosing to support Rowcroft Hospice in this way will help to ensure that our care and services are provided to future patients and their families. We hope that knowing this provides you with some comfort. On behalf of everyone at Rowcroft Hospice, thank you for your support. Our thoughts are with you at this time.

Glenn, this doesn’t seem fair or real. Last time we saw you was just before we moved to the States, 11 years ago. Your smile will shine bright forever in our thoughts of you. Our deepest sympathies to Sue x x Rick & Tracey

Glenn, I know, like most blokes, we weren’t the best at staying in contact so weren’t in touch in recent years; despite this I have so many good memories of our years growing up together and I will always treasure those. Building dens (often out of the furniture in our rooms, much to our parents’ delight I’m sure), countless hours spent playing ‘Leaderboard’ on the ZX Spectrum (you’d usually beat me – an early indicator of your future golfing prowess!) and of course those camping trips to France. Years later I’d benefit from the hours we invested in playing Leaderboard as your passion for golf drove you to achieve PGA Professional status, and eventually on to Wrangaton – where you exhibited remarkable patience giving lessons to your much less talented friend!! Although I don’t think I’ll ever get my tour card, I do still play from time to time, and the enjoyment I get from the game all stems from those skills I (eventually) learnt from you. I still play with the same set of irons you helped me buy! I’m truly gutted that you’ve been taken so early, and I wish I’d done a better job of staying in touch as we grew older. But above all else I just wanted to thank you for the gift of all those memories, the years of fun as kids and young men, and of course the best friendship anyone could hope to grow up with. Rest easy buddy, until we meet again. Mike Barnes
